Genesis

Welcome to our bloggocommentary! Day one of our trip was surprisingly drama free, so really there is nothing exciting to report. If we had broken down, lost a wheel, detached the caravan accidentally or met some crazy people; that would be interesting, but we haven't.  So all I have to report is that we left Adelaide on the 12th of April and landed in Port Augusta that evening. We had dinner with the lovely John Marsh at the Standpipe Indian Restaurant (it was was beautiful by the way - highly recommend it) and were actually surprised by the beauty of  Port Augusta. We have driven through it a million times but have never stopped long enough to enjoy it. Anyway, if you are ever driving through, stay at the Shoreline Caravan Park (Toby thinks the 'Shoreline' part of their name is technically correct but somewhat overstated...go there and you'll see what we mean). It was clean, tidy and cheap enough.

Next stop, Wudinna. We stayed overnight there and now we are in Nullabor Caravan Park. Nothing exciting to report here either except that I have a pimple on my cheek that is so large it is obstructing my view. Not that it matters because we are on the Nullabor - and let's face it - there is not much to see here anyway except saltbushes and bitumen. We are looking forward to crossing the border, although for me, today was a milestone. Going past Ceduna where I have worked for the last 3 months, and past Penong (where I was told to 'shut the f*^k up' by a scurrilous local during my time helping out with the CSIRO tuna spotting) felt to me like we were officially on our road trip. So here we go! Off on our adventure!!!
